What We’re Doing
This Father’s Day Weekend (Friday June 14- Sunday June 16), a bunch of us are heading to to the Pickle Gulch campground just west of Boulder.
The rough itinerary is as follows:
- Friday, June 14 (PM) – Arrive at our campsite. See the Where We Are Staying for more details.
- Saturday, June 15 – Probably (I still need to research) do some hiking in the area.
- Sunday, June 16 – Lazy AM/Schlep back to Front Range.
Where We Are Staying
We’re staying at GR1 (Group Site #1) at the Pickle Gulch campground just west of Boulder.
There are (I believe) six tent pads. Grabbing them is a first come, first served basis.
Amenities include the following:

HOW TO CHECK-IN
- Print out my receipt.
- Go to site.
- If asked, show the receipt and mention my name.
HOW TO GET THERE?
Here is a map with the campground.
Click on the link, then click Directions to get exact driving directions from your home.
Who is Coming? How much will it cost?
I created a complete list of who is coming here.
In there I split up the full cost ($130) by each family. Whether you come for 1 night or two nights, your cost is the same.
As of the writing of this note, the cost is $16/family for two nights. The ranger couldn’t tell me how many tent pads there are at our site. If for some reason there are 6 and a family doesn’t get a tent pad, that family will only pay $10 ($17/family for the rest).
What to Bring
It’s Car Camping, so the usual (tents/sleeping bags/chairs/etc.) is required. See my handy checklist if you’d like to spark some ideas on what you should bring.
UPDATE (6/13/13): DO NOT BRING WOOD. We are unsure if there will be a fire ban. As of the writing of this post, there isn’t. But it can change. If we can burn wood, we can buy it up there.
There is potable water at the campground, so bring jugs to store it.
Bring sports equipment, frisbees, etc.
Meals: Breakfasts and Dinners
We’ll do our meal potluck style. Because some folks are leaving early, the math isn’t working. Just plan for 3 meals for your family. We can coordinate in real time if we want to share some of the responsibilities. We’ll do Breakfasts around 7 AM and Dinners around 6 PM.
Lunches/snacks should be done on your own.
